Cincinnati-based Catholic Health Partners and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement have created a year-long patient safety initiative, according to a CHP news release.
Under the program, IHI faculty and personnel will mentor about 70 CHP staff members from seven participating Ohio hospitals that will become examples for other healthcare facilities. Teams of five or six, which may include physicians, nurses, support workers, patients and suppliers, will implement and evaluate practices to reduce harm in medical-surgical care and perioperative care.
The initiative will also focus on developing leadership and organizational culture to improve patient safety.
The seven Ohio hospitals participating in the program are: Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, Mercy Tiffin Hospital, Mercy St. Charles Hospital in Oregon, Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo, Mercy Hospital Anderson in Cincinnati, Mercy Hospital Clermont in Batavia and Mercy Hospital Fairfield.
