Walmart expands healthcare footprint: 5 recent updates

Here are five updates on Walmart's healthcare division reported by Becker's since Nov. 17:

1. Walmart Health is looking to fill several senior management and director-level positions in its Chief Medical Office and the Walmart Healthcare Research Institute. Open positions can be found here.

2. The retail giant furthered its healthcare offerings through a partnership with diagnostic imaging services company RadNet. RadNet is offering in-store mammograms at a Walmart Supercenter in Milford, Del., as part of an 18-month pilot program launched Dec. 8. The diagnostic center will conduct walk-in or scheduled mammograms in 15 minutes with a long-term goal to offer all patients same-day results.

3. Walmart's Walton family earned the No. 2 spot on Bloomberg's annual list of families with the largest fortunes, with $259.7 billion in estimated wealth.

4. Walmart hired two health system executives — both from other health systems. Angela Cosby, former medical group COO for Tampa, Fla.-based BayCare Health System, was appointed vice president of operations for healthcare delivery and Terrie Andrews, PhD, who previously served as vice president of behavioral health at Jacksonville, Fla.-based Baptist Health, was named Walmart Health's director and clinical effectiveness lead for behavioral health, virtual care and equity.

5. C. Douglas McMillon, CEO of Walmart, was ranked 19th on As You Sow's 10th report on "overpaid" CEOs among the S&P 500. WIth an annual pay of $25.31 million, the company's CEO-to-worker pay ratio is 933-to-1.
