A surgeon at the WellStar Acworth (Ga.) Health Park outpatient surgery center recently performed its first procedure, according to the Cobb Business Journal.
The $22.5 million surgery center, which opened June 29, is 25,000 square feet and has three operating rooms. Daniel Holtz, MD, a surgeon at the center, performed a procedure removing scar tissue from a kindergarten teacher's thumb.
Dr. Holtz told the Cobb Business Journal that the ASC's first surgery was exciting for him because he has been advocating for an ASC to be built in the area to increase access for local patients.
Physicians at the multispecialty center perform tonsillectomies, sinus surgery and minor pediatric procedures. The ASC also has three procedure rooms for injections and consultations.
