Physicians in Massachusetts, the best state to live in according to personal finance site WalletHub, make an average of $223,200 annually.
In a report released Aug. 14, WalletHub determined the best states to live in. The site ranked all 50 states across five dimensions: affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life and safety. Those dimensions were then evaluated using 51 metrics, including the states' unemployment rates, housing affordability and quality of their public school systems.
Salary information comes from May 2022 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. It excludes anesthesiologists, cardiologists, dermatologists, emergency medicine physicians, family medicine physicians, general internal medicine physicians, neurologists, obstetricians and gynecologists, and pathologists.
Here are the average physician salaries in the 10 best states to live in:
