Giving Thanks in the ASC Industry: 5 Surgery Center Leaders on What They Are Most Thankful for in Their Centers

In light of this week's holiday, five surgery center leaders share what they are thankful for in their centers.

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I am thankful for the excellent care our staff gives to patients each and every day. I am thankful for the physician owners who are excellent businessmen and have made our center a great place to work. I am also thankful for our dedicated trade associations, both on a state and national level, for providing education, regulatory oversight, and leadership in the ASC industry. Happy Thanksgiving to all of my colleagues.

I am thankful for Willamette Surgery Center's patient safety record. Our surgery center has 21 patient safety risk factors that we continuously monitor and report the findings quarterly. Patient safety is our top priority! Additionally, I am thankful for our high patient satisfaction ratings. We consistently have between 98 percent and 99 percent patient satisfaction! Finally, I am thankful for all the staff and physicians who give the best patient care and improve the lives of our patients every day!

Vivere-Austin Surgery Center is unique in that we specialize in creating families. I am thankful for the opportunity to help couples achieve their dream of having the child they never thought was possible. I am most thankful for the clinical and business office staff here at the Surgery Center at Tanasbourne. It is rare that you find a group of people who combine the knowledge and energy that we have at the center, but what always impresses me the most is the heart of caring from all of the crew. I have been told, by patients, numerous times about how they feel like a part of the family here at the center.  I can say I am truly blessed to work so closely with my fellow team members. Happy Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for the opportunity to provide patients excellent clinical care and allow them to return to the comfort of their homes for recovery. I'm also thankful to work with a team of clinical specialists, and to work in an industry that models healthcare savings regarding healthcare reform goals. I am overwhelmingly thankful to work in an industry that is patient focused: a patient advocate. This industry does not lose the patient in daily business…that is their daily business.
