Joe Macies is director, president and CEO of AmkaiSolutions, a healthcare software developing company, a position he has held since 2009. Mr. Macies has held senior leadership positions at companies, including Spielo Gaming International and W-Technologies. He has also served as a senior client partner at consulting firms Accenture and Unisus.
Mr. Macies is a certified management consultant and certified management accountant and received a master's degree in business administration from York University.
In a recent column published in Becker's ASC Review, Mr. Macies takes ambulatory surgery centers through 10 steps to take prior to installation of electronic health records in order to make the most of the technology.
"More and more ASCs are making the switch to an electronic medical records system because an EMR offers a significant improvement over paper records in all areas of an ASC's operation, and the system provides numerous benefits to patients, physicians and staff," he said. "But there is a common misconception about investing in an EMR which assumes that once you purchase the software and install it, you're ready to go."
