Here are 78 ambulatory surgery center administrators, clinical leaders, company executives, physician and industry leaders who have taken on new roles or received industry honors, as reported on by Becker's ASC Review this year.

Ross Alexander, previously administrator of Surgery Center of Fort Collins, has become administrator of Centrum Surgical Center in Greenwood Village, Colo.

John I. Allen began his term as the new president of the American Gastroenterological Association at the close of Digestive Disease Week in Chicago.

Mary Jane Antoon, RN, stepped into the director of operations role at Erie Shriners Ambulatory Surgery Center and Outpatient Specialty Center.

The Missouri Ambulatory Surgery Center Association elected Sandi Baber, vice president of operations for Meridian Surgical Partners, to its board of directors.

Rodger Baca was named chief development officer of Physicians Endoscopy. Mr. Baca previously served as a vice president of acquisitions and development at Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America.

Spine surgeon Hyun Bae, MD, joined La Peer Health Systems, based in Beverly Hills, Calif. Dr. Bae is the director of spine education at Cedars-Sinai Spine Center in Los Angeles.

Anne Bahr recently became vice president of sales and account management at CollectRx, a provider of out-of-network services for ASCs, physician practices and hospitals. Previously, Ms. Bahr served as an independent benefits consultant for Aflac.

Victoria Beck joined Interventional Management Services as CFO in late 2013.

James Bell, the director of business services at High Plains Surgery Center, joined the legislative affairs committee of the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society a little more than a year ago.

Medical Facilities Corporation appointed David Bellaire, a senior advisory partner to Bain & Company, to its board of directors.

Donald T. Benson joined the board of directors of EmployerDirect, a value-based healthcare company that helps self-insured employers provide transparency for quality and cost of employee healthcare.

Lynn Blalock, RN, previously a nurse with Cartersville Medical Center, has become the nurse manager of Georgia Advanced Surgery Center for Women in Cartersville.

Terry Bohlke, vice president of National Surgical Hospitals, has become the president of the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association.

Dale Bowman became the clinical director of LifeCenter Surgery Center in Sacramento a little more than a year ago. Her previous experience includes serving as an administrator at another California ASC and serving as chief nursing officer at surgical hospital.

Todd A. Brockman, MD, an ophthalmologist with AmSurg-affiliated Eye Surgery Center of Tulsa, has been elected president of the Oklahoma State Medical Association.

Tania Brost, RN, was named nurse manager of the Sanford Health Dickinson (N.D.) Clinic ambulatory surgery center.

Laura Butrick became the administrator of North Florida Surgical Pavilion in April. Prior to her current role, Ms. Butrick was a vice president of operations with Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America.

SourceMedical, an outpatient information solutions and services provider, named Mary L. Brown vice president of software engineering. Ms. Brown has more than 20 years of experience managing the direction of innovative software solutions and new business initiatives.  

Liza Capiendo, MD, a colorectal and general surgeon with La Peer Health Systems, has been named the Clinical Chief of the Department of Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

Sue Carocari became the administrator of River Valley ASC in Norwich, Conn. Ms. Carocari also serves as the center's director of nursing.

Mauro Cecchetti, previously director of clinical operations at Mid Manhattan Surgi Center in New York, is now an administrator with Constitution Surgery Centers.

Frank Chapman, COO of Ohio Gastroenterology Group, has been named vice chairman of the board and a member of the executive committee of the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

David Choromanski, MBA, has 20 years of experience in global marketing. He has joined STARR Surgical Company, a developer and manufacturer of lenses and other ophthalmic solutions.

Barbara Ciaramella, previously the director of quality management at Summit Surgical Center in Voorhees, N.J., has become the vice president of product lines at Kennedy University Hospital in Stratford, N.J.

Eric Day has taken on the role of vice president of ambulatory services at Arise Medical Center in Austin, Texas. He previously served as the CEO of Infrahealth Group of Companies.

James C. DiLorenzo, MD, president of New York GI Center and CEO of New York Associates in Gastroenterology, was recently named section chief of gastroenterology at Lawrence Hospital Center in Bronxville, N.Y.

Jennifer Eason, RN, has been named regional director of operations at SurgCenter Development. Prior to her new position, Ms. Eason served as a group administrator of a Maryland surgery center.  

Luis Espinoza, MD, a gynecology surgeon, recently joined Pratt (Kan.) Regional Medical Center and The Surgicenter, which provides laparoscopic and gynecologic surgery.

Jeff Fox became a vice president of new business development at Physicians Endoscopy in December. Prior to his new position, Mr. Fox served as a vice president of development at Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America.

EmployerDirect named Jeff Gary its new executive vice president of business development. Mr. Gary will focus on internal and external strategic business development initiatives.

Caroline Garza became the director of operations and revenue cycle at La Peer Surgery Center in Los Angeles a little more than a year ago. Previously, Ms. Garza was a traveling consultant with Symbion.

Ann Geier, SourceMedical Solutions Vice President-Clinical Informatics, has been appointed to serve as the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association Foundation liaison with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

Elise Gregory became assistant vice president of financial operations for the Atlantic Group-Mid America region of Symbion a little more than a year ago. Previously, Ms. Gregory was an accounting manager with Symbion.  

Meridian Surgical Partners, LLC is pleased to announce that Jovanna Grissom, RN and regional vice president of operations, has earned the Certified in Infection Control (CIC®) credential.

Patrick Guzik became the administrator of Bon Secours Surgery Center at Harbour View in Suffolk, Va., a little more than a year ago. Prior to his current role, Mr. Guzik served in a number of leadership positions with Amerigroup Corp.

Surgical Care Affiliates President and CEO Andrew Hayek has been named to the Aspen Institute's 2014 Class of Henry Crown Fellows.

Nancy Ho recently became the administrator of Sky Ridge Surgical Center in Lone Tree, Colo. Her previous experience includes serving as a consultant at Eyedeas Consulting and as center director of Northwest Regional Ambulatory Surgery Center.

James Hogan has become the director of strategic development with Symbion. He previously served as the administrator of Red Rock Surgery Center in Las Vegas.

Dan L. Hunt, MD, the board president of Genesis Surgery Center in Lansing, Mich., was appointed the corporate medical director of Accident Fund Holdings, a worker's compensation insurance company.

Zena Jacobs, RN, has been promoted to assistant administrator of physician services at St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center in Great Bend, Kan. Ms. Jacobs has been with the center since 2000.

Jana Jones, previously the administrator of Regional One Health Surgery Center in Memphis, Tenn., has become the director of business services and development at ClearlyMD Practice Solutions.

Lara Jordan is now a vice president of operations at Physicians Endoscopy. Previously, Ms. Jordan was a vice president of operations at Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America.

Michelle Konvicka is now the administrator of Museum District ASC in Houston. Previously, Ms. Konvicka was the clinical director of Summit Surgery Center.

Optometrist Jason Larsen, OD, joined the Eye Center of the Rockies. Previously, he was part of an ophthalmology practice in Yreka, Calif.

Greg LaRocque is now vice president of information technology at Nueterra. Mr. LaRocque previously served as vice president of IT/client services at Mediware Information systems.

David Lewis has become the CEO of the Colorado Center for Orthopaedic Excellence. Prior to his current role, Mr. Lewis held positions included administrator of Steadman Hawkins Clinic – Denver and administrator of Centrum Surgical Center.

Doug Lutz, MBA, became the director of operating room performance improvement in the North Texas Division of Hospital Corporation of America. Mr. Lutz previously served as the administrator of Lafayette (La.) Surgicare.

Joe Macies has stepped into the role of CEO of Virtual Officeware Healthcare Solutions. Prior to his role with VOWHS, Mr. Macies was the president and CEO of AmkaiSolutions.

Amy Maddox, previously business office manager at Cherry Creek Surgery Center, recently became a business office operations manager with SurgCenter Development.

Sarah Malaniak, previously the administrator of Teaneck Surgical Center, has become the administrator of the Ambulatory Center for Endoscopy in North Bergen, N.J.

Jessica McBrayer, previously a business analyst, recently became a senior business analyst, clinical systems at SourceMedical.

Ken McDonald became a sales executive, southeast with AmkaiSolutions. His previous experience includes roles with NextGen Healthcare Information Systems and SourceMedical

Barry McElyea, BSN, RN, has stepped into the role of director of nursing at a Surgem surgery center. Prior to his current role, Mr. McElyea served as program manager of perioperative services at Beth Israel Medical Center.

ACMC surgery center, based in Marshall, Minn., appointed Andrew Mitlyng, RN, as its new administrator.

Rodney Neaveill became the director of marketing and business development at FOAA Anesthesia Services, a division of North American Partners in Anesthesia.

Thomas Newman, chief operating officer of Foundation Healthcare, has recently taken on the additional role of executive vice president.

Nicholas Newsad, previously a manger with HealthCare Appraisers, has become the co-owner of Healthcare Transaction Advisors.

Ebenezer Nkong, RN, BSN, MSN, MBA, CNOR, became a nurse administrator with SurgCenter Development a little more than a year ago.

Jeffrey Orgen became an administrator with Hospital Corporation of America. His previous experience includes serving as administrator of Island Endoscopy Center and director of business operations with AmSurg.      

Rob Parrish became a vice president of business development at Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America a little more than a year ago. Previously, Mr. Parrish was the co-founder and chief development officer of FED Co.

Sandy Polanis became a contracting manger with Access MediQuip. Previously, Ms. Polanis served as the president of Polanis Consulting Services.

Barbara Pulliam, BS, CASC, is now vice president of revenue cycle at Surgical Management Professionals. Prior to her current role, Ms. Pulliam was director of revenue cycle at Foundations Recovery Network.

At Regent Surgical Health's 2014 Business Office Manager's Conference, the company granted the BOM of the Year Award to Linda Reid of Robert Wood Johnson Endosurgical Center.

Angie Reynolds, RN, has become the administrator of OrthoCare Surgery Center in Albany, Ga. Ms. Reynolds previously served as the nurse administrator of Premier Orthopedic SurgiCenter.

In July, Regina Richardson became the administrator of HCA – Sugarland (Texas) Surgery Center. Previously, she served as an associate administrator at Venice (Fla.) Regional Medical Center.

Board-certified dermatologist Darrell S. Rigel, MD, joined the physician team at Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York.

Jason Ruchaber, CFA, ASA, has founded Root Valuation, a new valuation and financial advisory company. Mr. Ruchaber has more than 13 years of experience in valuation and consulting.

Simon Schwartz, associate managing director at Strategic Resources Group, has stepped into the role of associate executive director of the New Jersey Association of Ambulatory Surgery Centers. Mr. Schwartz also serves as the director of events and membership for the Colorado ASC Association and Oregon ASC Association.

A little less than a year ago, Mindi Short became CEO/consultant of Medical Business Solutions, a physician, ASC and hospice billing, transcription and coding company. Prior to her current role, Ms. Short was the office manager of Coral Desert Surgery Center.

Melanie Spagnoli, RN, has become the nurse manager of Baptist Eye Surgery Center in Sunrise, Fla.

Philippe Subrin, vice president of manufacturing for STARR Surgical Company, will relocate to the company's headquarters and take on the role of vice president of ICL manufacturing.

William R. Thornton, MD, FACS, has joined the San Antonio Eye Center. Dr. Thornton has a special interest in ophthalmic and reconstructive surgery.

Mary Ulaent has become the administrator of Northwest Jersey Ambulatory Surgery Center in Sparta. She previously served as director of administrative services at American SurgiSite Center in Somerset, N.J.

Jennifer Van Den Brink recently became a facilities management and construction specialist with AmSurg. Ms. Van Den Brink previously held a position with Comcast.

Charles Walczak, administrator of Erie Shriners Ambulatory Surgery Center and Outpatient Specialty Care Center, has been chosen as executive director of Erie Homes for Children and Adults. Mr. Walczak succeeds executive director Paul Carpenedo.

Brett Weathers recently became vice president of sales – Texas with AmkaiSolutions, a provider of comprehensive information management solutions for ASCs, surgical hospitals and surgical practices. Prior to joining AmkaiSolutions, Mr. Weathers was a director of sales for RXPERTS Pharmacy.

Wendi Woodburn, previously the manger of revenue cycle and medical records at La Peer Surgery Center, has recently become the director of operations and ASC client manager at Pacific Medical Management.

The Missouri Ambulatory Surgery Center Association elected Angie Worley, administrator of West Plains Surgery Center, to its board of directors.
