ASCA Board Member Gregory Cunniff has been appointed the new CFO of Victory Healthcare in The Woodlands, Texas. He previously co-founded an ASC company that now includes 19 centers in 10 states.
Methodist North Surgery Center in Memphis, Tenn., and Methodist Germantown (Tenn.) Surgery Center have both received the 2013 Bernard A. Kershner Innovations in Quality Improvement Award from the AAAHC Institute for Quality Improvement.
Ali Mahtabifard, MD, a double board-certified general and cardiothoracic surgeon, has joined the Beverly Hills, Calif.-based network of outpatient surgery centers La Peer Health Systems. Dr. Mahtabifard is the first thoracic surgeon to join La Peer and will lead the Hyperhidrosis Center of Excellence.
Murtaza Parekh, MD, of Raleigh (N.C.) Endoscopy Center, has received an American College of Gastroenterology Auxiliary Award at the Annual Scientific Meeting. Dr. Parekh received the award for a study titled "Do CRNAs Need On-Site MD Anesthesia Supervision for Safe Propofol Sedation in an Ambulatory Endoscopy Center?"
The American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists has granted Toni R. Patterson, DO, the 2013 AOCA Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Patterson is a physician with Physician Anesthesia Associates in St. Louis and medical director of Mid-Rivers Surgery Center in St. Peters.
Fernando A. Vega recently became the director of Practice Development & Clinical Integration at Prairie Spine & Pain Institute in Peoria, Ill. Prior to his current position, Mr. Vega served as a principal of Caduceus Management Solutions.
Dennis Zamojski recently stepped into the role of regional vice president of Alliance Oncology. Previously, Mr. Zamojski served as a senior vice president of operations at AmSurg and a senior vice president of operations with National Surgery Centers.
