Many payers are leaving state exchanges, leaving thousands of Americans seeking alternative coverage.
Kaiser Family Foundation's July analysis found fewer payers will offer coverage in state exchanges next year.
Here are five statistics:
1. Next year, 62 percent of enrollees will have three or more insurers operating in the marketplace.
2. In 2016, 85 percent of enrollees had three or more payer options.
3. In 2017, KFF estimates nearly 2.3 million enrollees will only have one insurer operating in their marketplace.
4. Thirty-one percent of counties will have a single marketplace insurer next year, up significantly from 7 percent of counties this year.
5. In Wyoming, every county will have one payer option in 2017, with 82 percent of West Virginia counties having one payer in the marketplace.
