Minnesota asks 45k to reapply for coverage after computer error: 4 things to know

The state of Minnesota needs 45,000 people to reapply for public health insurance coverages to fix incorrect data between two separate computer systems, the Minnesota Star-Tribune reports.

Here's what you should know.

1. A system problem between two separate computer systems is preventing the state's Department of Human Services from determining if enrollees were eligible for either MinnesotaCare or the Medical Assistance programs.

2. The 45,000 affected have until Sept. 30 to reapply or their coverage will be discontinued.

3. The computer systems should've been syncing with one another, but it "wasn't happening in all cases," said Scott Peterson, a representative of MN.IT.

4. The two systems have a total of 650,000 people logged.
