Kentucky is the latest state to see the choices in its insurance exchange decrease to only one, Insider Louisville reports.
Here's what you need to know.
1. After Aetna, UnitedHealthcare and WellCare all left Kynect, the only plan that remains for residents throughout half the counties is Anthem.
2. According to data the Kentucky of Department of Insurance obtained, consumers should not see an impact by the companies entering and leaving the exchange.
3. Higher-than-expected costs were the reasons the insurers left the exchanges.
4. The federal government is modifying elements of the plan to help mitigate some of the risk onto higher-usage patients.
5. Baptist Health and CareSource are both expanding their footprint in the Kentucky exchanges, but it will not be enough to offset the lost providers.
