Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan researchers studied the impact of the Affordable Care Act on white, black and Hispanic adults' health insurance, according to American Journal of Public Health.
The study gathered data from the American Community Survey, conducted from 2008 to 2014.
Here are four insights:
1. Researchers found in 2013, 40.5 percent of Hispanics were uninsured; 25.8 percent of blacks were uninsured; and 14.8 percent of whites were uninsured.
2. A higher rate of public coverage existed for black adults and Hispanic adults, compared to white adults.
3. Following ACA provision implementation in 2014, the number of uninsured Hispanic adults decreased 7.1 percentage points; the number of uninsured black adults decreased 5.1 percentage points; and the number of uninsured white adults decreased 3 percentage points.
4. Researchers concluded the ACA somewhat subdued racial and ethnic disparities in health coverage.
