Few providers participated in CMS' first National Version 5010 Testing Day, held June 15, according to results released by the agency last week.
According to CMS, 349 Medicare fee-for-service providers participated in the test run. Only 39 percent of the trading partners who responded to a follow-up survey conducted by CMS said they were able to receive and process a 277CA while testing, and only 32 percent of the 68 trading partners who responded to the survey said they were ready for the Jan. 1, 2012, implementation date.
CMS will hold National 5010 Testing Week from Aug. 22-26. During this time, trading partners should continue to test implementation efforts of the new standard.
