ConnectiCare will be the latest insurer to pull out of the Affordable Care Act's exchanges, the New Haven Register reports.
Here's what you should know.
1. ConnectiCare submitted a rate increase request to the Insurance Department and was denied. The insurer threatened to leave the exchange if the state's health department did not reconsider the decision.
2. The Connecticut Insurance Department will review ConnectiCare's request to leave the exchange.
3. The insurer has almost 50,000 customers through the exchange. The CEO of ConnectiCare Michael Wise said the company is attempting to stay in the exchange despite terminating the contract with Access Health CT.
Mr. Wise asked for a deadline extension for the insurer to determine if it wanted to participate in the exchange.
