There are three weeks the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will allow for provider testing of ICD-10, according to a HealthData Management report.
Providers, suppliers, billing companies and clearinghouses can test their ICD-10 coding during these three weeks:
• Nov. 12 to 21, 2014
• March 2 to 6, 2015
• June 1 to 5, 2015
Healthcare providers are expected to transition to ICD-10 by Oct. 1, 2015. The transition was rescheduled earlier this year from the original Oct. 1, 2014 deadline. CMS hopes the test periods will give providers confidence in CMS and Medicare Administrative Contractors as well as prepare for ICD-10 implementation.
