AMA stands fast behind initial ICD-10 price estimates

A recent study published in the Journal of the American Health Information Management Association estimated the cost of transitioning to ICD-10 to be between $1,960 and $5,900. The American Medical Association has spoken out against the study and reaffirms previous price estimates, according to an iHealthBeat report.

The AMA is standing behind price estimates generated by the Nachimson Advisors. The AMA and Nachimson Advisors argue that the AHIMA study fails to include the cost of several ICD-10 implementation steps.

The Nachimson Advisors estimated implementation costs of $22,560 to $105,506 in a 2014 update to the AMA, according to the report.
