5 Tips for Medical Groups to Take Advantage of ICD-10 Implementation

A report from Diagnostic Imaging recently outlined how medical practices can deal with the ICD-10 delay.

The new deadline for ICD-10 implementation is Oct. 1, 2015, and many in the industry are urging medical practices to begin preparation now if they have not already. Here are five steps outlined in the article:

•    Educate those who need it — vendors may be available for help
•    Figure out how the delay will impact software updates
•    Identify gaps in workflow and further automate the coding process if possible
•    Evaluate how clinical documentation will change and whether charges can be incorporated into the current superbill
•    Develop a system to measure financial performance success and predict what it will be after ICD-10 to strengthen the current revenue cycle in preparation for the switch
