3 Tips to Prepare Patients With High Deductibles

The Kaiser Family Foundation reported the average deductible for employee-sponsored health plans was $1,135 in 2013, according to MediGain blog post. But, as patients begin to use plans purchased on the exchange deductibles ranging from $3,000 to $5,000 are becoming increasingly common.

Here are three tips to prepare patients with high deductibles for their financial obligation.

•    Offer fee schedules for common services
•    Refine collections procedures with medical billing and coding partners
•    Discuss payment obligations prior to the date of service
