In response to a request from the Food and Drug Administration, Temple, Texas-based compounding pharmacy Unique Pharmaceuticals has issued a voluntary recall for all unexpired, sterile products, according to a report from Pharmacy Practice News.
A recent FDA inspection of the company's compounding facilities revealed unsanitary procedures that may put patients at risk of serious infection, though neither the FDA nor Unique Pharmaceuticals have received reports of contamination or patient infection.
The FDA release recommended healthcare professionals at ambulatory surgery centers and hospitals with unused, sterile products from Unique Pharmaceuticals should not administer them to patients. Recall instructions and a complete list of recalled products are available at Unique Pharmaceuticals' website.
