CMS has told Mercy Medical Center St. Mary's in Knoxville, Tenn., that it must address patient safety issues or risk losing its Medicare funding in June, according to a report from the Knoxville News Sentinel.
The hospital was informed of the improvements needed following inspection by federal regulators. To keep its Medicare funding, Mercy Medical Center St. Mary's must now submit a correction plan for review and approval, and is subject to future unannounced inspections.

A spokesman for the hospital, which has treated patients since 1930, said it intended to take the necessary steps to keep its funding, according to the report.
