The Joint Commission has announced it has released the fifth in a series of animated videos to encourage patients to become active participants in their healthcare, with the latest 60-second video focusing on children and how they should feel confident speaking up and asking questions to become active participants in their healthcare.
The "Speak Up" videos are intended as public service announcements and are available for viewing at The Joint Commission's YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/user/TheJointCommission. The messages of the latest video include the importance of empowering children to ask questions about their healthcare if they have trouble understanding something, to let a parent or guardian know if something hurts and to ask if their name and birth date match what is on their medication.
