The Joint Commission has revised several elements of performance under its ambulatory healthcare accreditation program.
The revisions pertain to ASCs that choose to use Joint Commission accreditation for deemed status purposes and affect standards of leadership and patients' rights and responsibilities

The changes will appear in the 2012 Update 1 to the Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Ambulatory Care being released in March and will be effective in February.
