Amerinet Announces Toolkit and Educational Resources on Healthcare Associated Infections

Amerinet, a national healthcare group purchasing organization, has announced the availability of a new Amerinet Quality Solutions toolkit, podcast episode and webcast highlighting healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).

The resources, released in conjunction with Amerinet's strategic education partner, Inquisit, include a 47-page PDF toolkit, podcast and webinar, according to a news release.

The toolkit provides prevention strategies, quality measures and resources to help organizations improve their infection control program. You can download the "Healthcare-Associated Infections Prevention Toolkit" by clicking here (pdf).

The podcast — "Healthcare-Associated Infections" — features Tim Fenton, director of federal government relations at Thermo Fisher Scientific — is available for download by clicking here (mp3). It discusses how the federal government defines HAIs, key players driving government activity, important laws and other HAIs initiatives and activities.

The webinar — "Calculating the Cost of Healthcare Associated Infections" — takes place May 4 from 2:15 – 3:30 p.m. EDT and is presented by Chris Hollenbeak, PhD, associate professor of surgery and public health sciences at Penn State University College of Medicine. This complimentary program will provide an overview of the costs associated with HAIs and a framework for thinking about costs. The program will also introduce a cost calculator for MRSA screening.
