The Agency for Healthcare Research Quality has published a fact sheet offering 20 tips to help prevent medical errors in children.
Rates of medication errors and adverse drug events for hospitalized children were comparable to rates for hospitalized adults in a 2001 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association, according to AHRQ.

The fact sheet is intended to help parents help their children avoid medical errors. Providers can also use this resource by giving it to the parents of child patients so these parents can help ensure they make the best decisions for their children and know how to communicate with their providers to address any questions or concerns.
