According to the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare, failure of Standard 8.E, related to emergency preparation for ASCs, is one of the most commonly partially compliant or noncompliant standards the organization sees during ASC surveys. According to the AAAHC's Triangle Times, the top six reasons 8.E is rated PC or NC include:
1. Failure to complete four quarterly internal emergency and disaster plan drills.
2. Failure to complete one CPR drill annually.
3. Using "in-services" in place of drills for emergency management.
4. Missing evaluation for each drill performed.
5. Failure to document the correction plan when needed.
6. Failure to adhere to the organization's drill policy.
