Study: Central-Line Infections Reduced With Frequent Communication, Reeducation

Research indicates that frequent reeducation of staff and multidisciplinary teamwork can significantly decrease central-line bloodstream infections, according to an Anesthesiology News report.

Other key factors include involving caregivers at all levels of treatment, using daily checklists and providing consistent feedback on infection rates to hospital staff. Clinicians also make a habit of using chlorhexidine sponges and catheters with antibiotics.
