Handbooks Teaches Integration of Ultrasound Technology in Anesthesia Practice

A new electronic handbook on ultrasound guidance for vascular access and regional anesthesia aims to teach clinicians to integrate the technology into routine anesthesia practice, according to a DOTmed News report.

The handbook "addresses the key features of ultrasound and needle skills; it also brings the newest innovation in ultrasound guidance technology to the forefront and illustrates how this will improve the outcomes that we all want to achieve with our regional anesthesia practice," said Brian Pollard, MD, staff anesthesiologist at St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada.

Topics covered include ultrasounds for vascular access; ultrasound-guided blocks; ultrasound-assisted blocks; and continuous nerve block catheter techniques.
