The U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Tennessee Board of Pharmacy are investigating seven adverse events reported from steroid injections compounded by Main Street Family Pharmacy in Newbern, Tenn.
All reported patients received 80 mg injections of preservative-free methylprednisolone acetate, and at least one injection appears to be fungal.
The FDA recommends all healthcare providers refrain from administering any Main Street sterile products and quarantining them until further notice.
