Assurance Biosense was granted FDA 510(k) clearance to market its Alar Sensor, an anesthesia device used for monitoring oxygen saturation in arterial hemoglobin and pulse rate.
The device allows for continuous non-invasive monitoring and compatibility with other large monitoring devices. Assurance developed the Alar Sensor based on clinical data that showed central monitoring of pulse oximetry to be an improvement over peripheral sites, such as finger tips, according to the release.
