Robert Browning, MD, has been appointed chief of anesthesia at Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital in Providence, effective July 1, 2011, according to a hospital release.
Dr. Browning joined the Rhode Island Hospital department of anesthesia in 1985 and has served as chief of anesthesia at Rhode Island Hospital since 1988; this appointment is the first time he will have served as chief of anesthesia for Both facilities. He is a member of the board of directors of the American Society of Anesthesiologists; the Rhode Island Society of Anesthesiologists; and the Society for Pediatric Anesthesia, among others.
Dr. Browning has been appointed an associate chief of anesthesia for each campus in order to continue programmatic integration across the hospitals.
