Anesthesia information management systems are experiencing growth in the perioperative setting, according to research from Atlanta-based Surgical Information Systems.
In a recent survey of healthcare leaders, 84 percent of those surveyed considered IT solutions a strategic driver of success in the OR. According to the report, the perioperative environment accounts for an average of 70 percent of hospital revenue, 60 percent of hospital margin and more than 50 percent of medical errors.
According to SIS, hospitals are increasingly adopting perioperative IT to reduce costs, improve care and maximize margins where possible to fund less profitable programs. Healthcare leaders communicated in the survey that systems that deliver additional operational and clinical efficiencies are increasingly expected in the perioperative setting.
