A quarter of supply chain managers say supply chain tasks stress them out, according to healthcare services and products company Cardinal Health's 2019 hospital supply chain survey.

Over 300 supply chain decision makers, including surgeons, nurses and physicians weighed in on pain points they face in their roles.

Five details:

1. Clinicians said they spend more than twice the time they would like on supply chain tasks, resulting in less time with patients and more stress.

2. Seventy-four percent of providers said missing supplies have the most impact on workplace productivity.

3. Seventy percent of respondents said wasting or overusing supplies is a significant problem in their organization.

4. Tracking and counting supplies manually is another pain point, with 49 percent of respondents saying it has a negative impact on productivity.

5. Ninety-four percent of respondents said supply chain plays an important role in their organization's financial success.
