CVS and UPS have teamed up to develop a drone delivery service for prescriptions and retail products.
The partnership with CVS marks the first retail expansion for UPS Flight Forward, a subsidiary of UPS. The company already completes drone deliveries for WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, N.C., completing 1,500 deliveries for the hospital since Match 2019. UPS Flight Forward is currently the only drone airline approved by the FAA.
"We’re always looking to improve convenience for customers through faster, lower-cost and more efficient delivery models," said Kevin Hourican, president of CVS Pharmacy in a statement. "Given our focus on innovation, we’re excited to be the first retail health care company to explore drone delivery options with UPS."
