The McLaren Bay Region Auxiliary is hosting a Charity Ball to help Bay City, Mich.-based McLaren Surgery Center purchase 3D mammography equipment, the Midland Daily News reports.
Here are three details:
1. The 3D mammography equipment can help the center's physicians detect cancer at earlier stages, according to breast surgeon Tari Stull, MD.
2. The technology enables surgeons to evaluate individual layers in more detail. "Studies have shown that this type of technology can detect 41 percent more invasive breast cancers and detect cancer 15 months earlier," Dr. Stull said.
3. Scheduled for Dec. 1, the charity event will entail an open bar, dinner and a silent auction. Ticket prices range from $50 to $250.
