Wisconsin Nurse Charged With Medicaid Fraud

Sarah Becker, RN, has been charged with bilking more than $15,000 from the federal Medicaid program over a two-year span, according to a Sheboygan Press news report.

Ms. Becker, who worked full-time as a registered nurse at Aurora Sheboygan (Wis.) Memorial Medical Center, also provided in-home care for a couple through a state program called Nurses in Independent Practice.

After comparing Ms. Becker's Medicaid billing records to the hospital's payroll information, investigators found Ms. Becker allegedly double-billed Medicaid for more than 200 hours of work between July 2008 and May 2010 at the couple's house while she was also working at the hospital, which was located 35 minutes away from the couple's home. As a result of the alleged scheme, Ms. Becker was paid more than $15,000, according to the report.

Ms. Becker is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 10.
