A pediatrician from New York's Orleans County was sentenced on federal charges to two years' probation after he pleaded guilty to submitting false claims to a federal program, according to a Daily News report.
Ghulam Mustafa, MD, admitted in U.S. District Court in April that he submitted false claims to the federally-funded New York program that provides free vaccinations to poor children. Along with his probation, Dr. Mustafa was also ordered to pay $81,544 in restitution.
Dr. Mustafa is scheduled to be sentenced on state charges next week in Orleans County Court. On state charges, he faces up to one year and four months in prison, according to the report.
