Two employees of Frontenac (Mo.) Surgery and Spine Care Center have pleaded guilty to wire fraud, according to a Highland News Leader report.
Sandra H. Kaepp entered her plea at the U.S. District Court of Eastern Missouri in St. Louis on April 21, around five months after her arrest on a two-count indictment that charged her with conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and use of a counterfeit device. Gina M. Winters plead guilty to conspiracy to defraud the U.S. and use of a counterfeit device on March 22.
Ms. Kaepp pleaded guilty to the charge that alleged she wired money on March 11, 2010, from the bank account of Frontenac Surgery and Spine Care Center to her personal credit card account. The amount wired totaled $995.80, according to the report. Ms. Kaepp also opened a credit card account and authorized herself and Ms. Winters as primary users. The former employees then used the account to make purchases at Sam's Club stores in Maplewood and St. Charles, Mo., between Nov. 2008 and April 2010.
Ms. Winters and Ms. Kaepp were employed at the surgery center from March 2008 until Sept. and Aug. 2010, respectively. The former employees remain free on unspecified bonds.
