Former Oregon Physician Fugitive Pleads Not Guilty to Medical Fraud Charges

A former physician from Tigard, Ore., who has been declared a fugitive since 2004 following accusations of fraudulently obtaining controlled substances and medical fraud, has pled not guilty to those charges, according to a Daily Rosetta news report.

Steven G. Moos allegedly prescribed medication, including Viagra and Rogaine, over the Internet without proper medical examination. He also allegedly misbranded medication, falsified information to the FBI and fraudulently obtained controlled substances, according to the report. The Oregon Board of Medical Examiners suspended his medical license in 2003.

Mr. Moos and his family disappeared from their home in July 2004.  He was arrested at Dulles International Airport earlier this year after flying in from the United Arab Emirates, where he is wanted for posing as a cosmetic surgeon and carrying out dangerous procedures without a medical license.
