Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley, Calif., today announced a newly added form of treatment, called minimally invasive lumbar decompression, for lumbar spinal stenosis patients. Mild is designed to remove the source of LSS symptoms earlier in the treatment continuum, according to a center news release, and it can reduce pain and improves mobility while maintaining the spine’s structural stability.
During the procedure, the physician uses MILD devices to remove small pieces of bone and the tissue causing the pressure on the nerves. Performed under image guidance through a 5.1 mm portal, the procedure requires only an adhesive bandage for closure.
