Graham Mouw, MD, performed the first outpatient lamina replacement using the Globus Haven Lamina Replacement System in California at Valley Presbyterian Hospital in Van Nuys.
Here are four key notes:
1. The Haven Laminoplasty System is a dual plate system offering bilateral lamina support, designed to bridge the posterior arch in an effort to protect the spinal cord. Bilateral fixation to lateral masses provides a rigid support structure that bridges the posterior arch with one implant.
2. The implant is designed to mimic the patient's natural anatomy and includes non-fusion plate configurations.
3. Dr. Mouw expects to perform future surgeries at Robotics Outpatient Center in Los Angeles in the future. ROC – LA is a physician-owned facility dedicated to robotic procedures.
4. Dr. Mouw is the founder of the Motion Spine Institute. As a neurosurgeon, he dedicated his practice to motion-sparing technologies and artificial disc replacements.
