Blue Cross Blue Shield Association released a report outlining trends in planned hip and knee replacement surgeries, which are increasing in the U.S.
The report examined Blue Cross Blue Shield member data from 2010 to 2017 for patients who underwent total and partial hip and knee replacement procedures. The report found a 14 percent increase in overall spending for knee and hip replacements, as well as a trend toward outpatient procedures, where the cost savings ranged from 30 percent to 40 percent.
