Craig Roberto, DO, an orthopedic surgeon who practices at Niagara Regional Surgery Center in Lockport N.Y., uses the NanoScope, a needlelike surgical instrument with a camera on the end to perform arthroscopic procedures, according to the Lockport Union-Sun Journal.
NanoScope, designed by medical device company Athrex, attaches to a computer tablet to help surgeons diagnose disease for patients who are unable to undergo MRIs.
Previously, arthroscopies were performed with bulkier instruments that needed to be hooked up to cameras and TV monitors.
