Greater Dayton (Ohio) Surgery Center surgeons completed the 100th outpatient total joint replacement at the center earlier in October.
Here are five things to know:
1. The ASC added total joints in January and projects to complete more than 150 procedures by the end of 2018.
2. Over the next year, administrator Todd Evans estimates the program will experience rapid growth. The total joint surgeons at the center are Kevin Paley, MD, Ryan Bauman, MD, Rick Forster, MD, and Paul Nitz, MD.
3. Greater Dayton Surgery Center is a joint venture between physicians and Kettering Health Network. Launched in 2007, the surgery center is accredited by AAAHC and provides ENT, plastic surgery, gastroenterology and pain management services.
4. Centers across the country are adding total joint replacements, including Stamford-based Specialty Surgery Center of Connecticut, which launched the state's first total joint replacement program in an ASC in August.
