The Bone and Joint Center of Albany (N.Y.)'s Jared Roberts, MD, performed the first outpatient total hip replacement procedures at Albany-based Capital Region Ambulatory Surgery Center.
Here are three details:
1. It was the first time total hip replacements were performed outside a hospital in the Capital Region, Saratoga County and northeastern New York state.
2. Schenectady, N.Y.-based MVP Health Care and Capital Region Ambulatory Surgery Center partnered to allow hip, knee and shoulder procedures to be done in the outpatient setting for select MVP patients.
3. MVP Health Care covers more than 700,000 members in New York and Vermont.
"We are always looking for opportunities to make high-quality care as convenient and affordable as possible," said MVP Health Care Vice President of Medical Affairs Carl Cameron, MD. "This new partnership with Capital Region Ambulatory Surgery Center for outpatient total hip, knee and shoulder replacement procedures is an excellent example of how providers and insurers together can make a positive impact on the healthcare system and in the lives of those we serve."
