Ophthalmologists at VisionFirst Trussville in Birmingham, Ala., have performed the state's first cataract laser surgery, according to a Trussville Tribune report.
The ophthalmologists — Drs. Mark Bearman and Sarah Hays — use the LenSx femtosecond laser to perform the procedure.
During the first day using the device, the physicians performed nine cataract surgeries.
VisionFirst was founded in 1997. It has three locations in Birmingham and Alabaster, Ala.
