Ophthalmologist Richard Shugarman, MD, has been appointed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott to the state's board of medicine, according to a news release.
Dr. Shugarman has owned RGS Medical Services in West Palm Beach, Fla., since 2006. He previously practiced with Palm Beach Eye Center and owned Palm Beach Eye Associates from 1971 to 2005.
Dr. Shugarman received his MD from the University of Maryland.
He is appointed for a term beginning June 8 and ending Oct. 31, 2015. Dr. Shugarman's appointment is subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.
