OASIS Medical, a surgical instruments, punctual occlusion devices and ocular solutions manufacturing and distribution company, has entered into a joint venture with Shape Ophthalmics to develop and distribute a shape memory plug for the treatment of dry eye.
OASIS will manufacture the plug, which is triggered by natural body heat, and expects to begin distribution in 2014.
Shape Ophthalmics was founded by Naresh Mondovi, MD, Malik Kahook, MD, and Robin Shandras, PhD, of the University of Colorado ophthalmology and bioengineering departments.
