Residents of Alamance County, N.C., now have access to free eye care through the Open Door Clinic, according to a Times-News report.

The Open Door Clinic, located in Burlington, N.C., is sponsored by Alamance Regional Medical Center, which is also in Burlington. It provides free care to the poor and uninsured, and recently added eye care to its list of services.

The eye care services at the Open Door Clinic are provided by ophthalmologist Dr. Bruce Shields and optometrist Dr. Richard Hatch.

To be eligible for the Open Door Clinic's services, patients must be an Alamance County resident, be uninsured and fall at or below 150 percent of the federal poverty level.
