The American Academy of Ophthalmology's political action committee has sponsored a new television ad supporting ophthalmologist Rep. Nan Hayworth, according to a Capital New York report.
Dr. Hayworth represents New York's 19th Congressional District in the U.S. Congress, which is now considered the 18th district following redistricting after the 2010 census. She is running for re-election against Democrat Sean Maloney, an attorney and former advisor for President Bill Clinton.
Dr. Hayworth is the only ophthalmologist serving in Congress.
For 16 years, Dr. Hayworth served as an ophthalmologist, both in her own solo practice in Hudson Valley and as a partner in the Mount Kisco Medical Group, according to her bio. She also served as an attending physician at Northern Westchester Hospital.
The media buy from AOA's PAC, OPHTHPAC, reportedly cost $153,000.
