Nearly 400 members of the American Academy of Ophthalmologists have gathered at Capitol Hill today to protest Medicare Cuts, arguing such cuts will be harmful to the ophthalmic care of seniors.
The Academy points out that the majority of eye conditions are age-related and consequently 50 percent of ophthalmologists have stated that Medicare beneficiaries account for 60 percent of their practices.
Today's agenda for the Academy includes addressing Medicare cuts, advocating vision research funding, seeking exemptions for EHR adoption and clarifying the function of healthcare providers.
